3 reasons why your skin is itchy after showering

Do you often have the feeling of tight or itchy skin after taking a shower? Several factors can explain the phenomenon. Here are all our perfect tips to stop it!

Many women experience the rather unpleasant sensation of itchy skin after getting out of their shower. Does this happen to you too? Discover our solutions so that it stops, definitively.

Obviously, the main reason for tight and itchy skin after taking a shower is that it is prone to dryness. Indeed, dry skin in contact with water causes unpleasant and lasting itching. Even more sensitive to cold temperatures and washing, dry skin will react when you get out of the shower, especially if your bathroom is well heated: this mixture of humidity and interior heating will make your skin wash and tingle.

It could also be that it's not your dry skin that's itching, but the fact of taking a shower that's a little too hot. If you love the effect of almost scalding water on your body, the temperature may be too high and cause your skin to tingle when dried. "When you finish your shower or your bath, the water that remains on your skin evaporates and absorbs the moisture from your skin, says Sandra Lee, dermatologist, at the site Well and Good. This dryness is exacerbated by taking showers too hot because the heat causes more evaporation."

Finally, it may be that your shower products are not suitable for your skin, or that you scrub it a little too hard... "Extensive use of soaps and cleansers strips the natural oils that moisturize the skin on our body, explains our dermatologist. This leads to more dryness, and dryness leads to itching, which can lead to redness and flaking, eventually."

In short, so what do we do?

Already, it's very simple: you have to shorten the time in the shower and slightly lower the temperature. Ok for warm to hot water, but never hot.

Underwater, use a gentle cleansing treatment specially designed for dry and sensitive skin. Choose simple formulas, with little fragrance: they will be less aggressive on the skin. Coming out of the shower, slightly dried but your skin still very damp, moisturize your body deeply with the cream of your choice - preferably the most natural possible -, which will "capture" the moisture in your skin and soften the epidermis. Your skin will be soft and above all much less prone to itching!
